  • A ClickTime admin-level user must be available to serve as the integration account.
  • SAML SSO must be enabled and configured in ClickTime for Rippling to authenticate users.
  • Admin access is required to complete the SSO metadata exchange during setup.

Rippling

  • An active Rippling subscription with access to the App Shop.

Easily connect your HR & IT management system with your timesheet solution

1

Automate user provisioning and offboarding

Connect Rippling to ClickTime once, and your HR system becomes the source of truth for access. As employees join, change roles, or leave, ClickTime accounts adjust automatically no spreadsheets or manual admin work.

2

Centralize authentication with SAML SSO

Employees sign in through Rippling using secure SAML 2.0 authentication. They can access ClickTime directly from the Rippling dashboard, reducing login friction and improving security.

3

Keep permissions aligned across systems

Because HR updates flow directly from Rippling to ClickTime, your access controls stay current. Only active employees retain access, lowering risk and keeping audits simple.

User Provisioning & Deactivation

Rippling becomes the system of record for ClickTime access. When an employee is hired, updated, or offboarded in Rippling, their ClickTime account adjusts automatically no manual setup or cleanup required.

  • Offboarded employees are deactivated instantly
  • Rippling → ClickTime, event-driven API
  • Syncs name, email, start date, and employment status
  • New hires are automatically created in ClickTime
  • Profile changes update in real time

Secure single sign-on through Rippling

Rippling serves as the identity provider for ClickTime, giving employees one-click access from their Rippling dashboard. Authentication runs through SAML 2.0, keeping login simple and secure.

  • Supports advanced SSO configuration via ClickTime
  • SAML 2.0 authentication
  • Rippling → ClickTime login flow
  • Launch ClickTime directly from Rippling
  • Centralized password + identity management

Known limitations

The integration focuses on identity and access not time data. It ensures HR remains the source of truth while keeping ClickTime clean and secure.

  • No sync for timesheets or time entries
  • One-way sync from Rippling to ClickTime
  • Only core HR fields are supported
  • Requires admin access in both platforms
  • Some Rippling plans may charge for SSO or app integrations

Common questions

See all FAQs
A new hire didn’t appear in ClickTime?

This typically happens when the employee wasn’t assigned the ClickTime app in Rippling. Assigning the app triggers provisioning, so confirm it’s included in their profile and that their Rippling status is set to Active. If assignment and status look correct, check that the Rippling–ClickTime connection is still authorized.

A terminated employee still has ClickTime access.

In most cases, the offboarding workflow in Rippling didn’t include the ClickTime app. Once the app is part of the offboarding flow, Rippling will automatically deactivate the user in ClickTime. The change isn’t instantaneous—API-driven deactivation may take a few minutes to complete.
