ClickTime has recently been certified as an Active Participant in the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield Program.

The EU-U.S. Privacy Shield Framework is a treaty between the E.U. and the U.S. that regulates how U.S.-based companies can use and protect data from businesses based in the European Union. It replaces the now-defunct Safe Harbor Framework, which was declared invalid by the E.U. in 2015.

The Privacy Shield offers stronger protections to E.U. companies by ensuring that U.S. companies have a third-party dispute resolution office that E.U. customers can go to if they have complaints about how their data is used. There are also clearer guidelines for how to issue complaints and offers greater transparency to E.U. companies about how their data is used in the U.S.

The need for this treaty arose from the difference in how data is treated and protected in the E.U. versus the U.S. The Privacy Shield helps ensure that E.U. business data held by a U.S. company will be stored in compliance with the appropriate privacy rules.
